Simran is back with a bang. And this time it is on the small screen. The actress looked ravishing at the press meet held in Chennai to launch Simran Thirai (Jaya TV, Mon-Fri 8.30 pm), produced by Pyramid Saimira. She says that top actors in Kollywood should not look down on television as inferior to films as the small screen has the bigger reach among the public more than ever before.

Simran has lost 25 kilos and looked stunning in a pair of faded jeans and a black kurti with a colourful dupatta. She was in her elements as she went out of her way to make her producers, cast and crew happy. In her speech she admitted that she started her career from Television by hosting “Superhit Muqabala” on

Doordarshan, a popular countdown show. Now she is back to the same medium.

Simran interacted with all the press people and in fact was the last person to leave the hall. She said that it was Subha Venkat of Pyramid Saimira who came and met her in Delhi and narrated the concept of Simran Thirai to which she fell in love and immediately agreed to do it.

The first two episodes of Simran Thirai will be directed by actress Sri Priya (Vannathupoochi) and National award winning director Ahathiyan. The title song of the serial is composed by Ramesh Vinayagam to Vairamuthu’s lyrics. Chinamayi has sung this song

Simran says that she wants to balance her Television serials and film career. Her new Telugu film is ready for release and she has signed Gautham Menon`s Vaaranam Aayiram.
